Chat Over Coffee: Internship

Good Morning y'all - it's super windy where I live, with wind gusts up to 32 mph! So if you live near me in the Pennsylvania area, please hold on tight to your coffee cups this A.M.

Again, I am currently sitting in my college's cafe after my 9 A.M. Psychology class sipping my Starbucks (sad face) white chocolate mocha. What are you drinking or trying to drink in this wind?

Fun fact for you guys: I RECIEVED A MARKETING INTERNSHIP!

The marketing internship is for an ~amazing~ company called relovv. Relovv is an app where individuals can buy and sell used clothing, preferably non-fast fashion brands, to promote sustainability.

So, what is fast fashion? That's a good question - though I am not an expert on this topic just yet, I do know that fast fashion promotes unjust human rights issues and landfill build-up. The goal of fast fashion brands, like Forever21 and H&M, is to pay very little for a large amount of workers (who are subjected to harsh treatment as well) to produce mass amounts of clothing to sell cheap and quickly to people just like you and me.

The concept of fast fashion for you and me is great: we buy trendy clothing for cheap and are assured to have many different styles to choose from every other week. However, we subject so many people that are kept behind viels, to cruelty.

As for the environment, the clothing we buy from fast fashion brands aren't built to last. Therefore, we continually get rid of falling apart clothing into landfills.

Relovv was created to help reduce these issues by allowing individuals to sell old clothing from non-fast fashion brands like Anthropologie and J. Crew.

A fun twist makes the app even more creative: you can "relovv" other's items onto your account. If someone views your profile and purchases someone else's item from YOUR profile, you will make a portion of the sale.

I highly reccomend downloading the app, even just to browse (not even saying this because I got the internship: I was using the app for three months before I even applied to be an intern!) Make sure to use my invite code - abigailclifford - for a $5 credit towards you first purchase to help the fashion industry and environment!

As for the marketing internship I recieved, I will be completeing tasks remotely for relovv, which means I can still play on the tennis team and keep my job at American Eagle - SCORE!

I also wanted to take the time to thank everyone who inititally helped me complete my second-round assessment tasks by downloading relovv and using my invite code - you guys rock.

In a little while, I plan on writing a single blog post discussing more about "fast fashion" and what else WE can do to help diminish the harmful effects.

Thanks for tagging along over your coffee this morning! I will get back in touch this Friday.

In case you missed my last post, here it is - Inside Scoop: My Morning Routine

Until Friday,

Abigail
